Regina opened the season as one of ten teams in Class 2A in the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association rankings
The Regals played like a ranked team on Monday.
Class 2A No. 10 Regina opened the season with a River Valley Conference sweep, defeating Tipton 6-4 and 10-3 in a doubleheader in Tipton.
Regina got strong pitching performances from Nick Brandt and Mitch Gahan to open the season a pair of wins.
Brandt allowed four runs, one earned, on eight hits and struck out three to earn the win in the opener.
Regina had just four hits in game one but scored six runs to open the season with a win.
Jayden Kies had a hit, two RBI and scored a run while Evan Suchomel went 2-for-2 with a run and Hunter Liebermann scored two runs.
Gahan tossed six innings of two-hit baseball in the nightcap allowed just two earned runs while striking out seven.
Blake Berns was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBI to lead the Regina offense. Kies and Ryan Schott were both 1-for-4 with a run while Nick Brandt had a hit and drove in a run.
Ryne Schooley and Prescott Arendt each had a hit, an RBI and scored a run.
