West High Drops to No. 2 in 4A Boys Basketball Rankings

For the first time this season there is a new number one in Class 4A.

Des Moines Hoover (15-1) replaced West High as the top team in the Class 4A boys basketball poll released by the Associated Press on Monday.

West High (13-3) had an 81-game home winning streak end with a 68-59 loss to Dubuque Senior on Saturday and the Trojans dropped from the top spot in the 4A poll for the first time on Monday.

The Mississippi Valley Conference has four teams in the 4A rankings as fourth-ranked Cedar Falls, No. 5 Dubuque Senior and tenth-ranked Dubuque Hempstead join West High.

Other top-ranked teams include Mount Pleasant (3A), Western Christian (2A) and North Linn (1A).
