City High No. 8 in Class 3A Wrestling Rankings

Coming of an eighth-place state meet finish last season City High opens the season ranked ninth in the Class 3A wrestling rankings released by IAWrestle.com.

City High has four wrestlers ranked in the top 10 at their respective weight to open the season a year after posting its best season in six years under head coach Cory Connell.

Southeast Polk is number one in the 3A rankings followed by Waverly-Shell Rock and West Des Moines Dowling.

City High junior Ethan Wood-Finley is ranked number one at 106 pounds while senior Kyle Hefley is third at 152 pounds.

Senior heavyweight Jacob Murry is ranked fifth in the preseason rankings while senior Brandon Lalla is No. 10 at 170 pounds.

West High sophomore Graham Gambrall is ranked fourth at 138 pounds while Clear Creek Amana senior Andrew Rohret is ranked eighth at 145 pounds.

Solon is ninth in the Class 2A rankings and has three wrestlers ranked in the top 10.

Junior Zeb Gnida is third at 132 pounds in Class 2A, senior Zack Bevans is third at 152 pounds and senior Mike Hoyle is fourth at 220.

In Class 1A Regina senior Nick Milder is fourth at 182 pounds.
