City High Fourth in First Class 5A Softball Rankings

Three are softball teams will open the season ranked into the top five after the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released its first set of softball rankings on Monday.

City High opens the season ranked fourth in the Class 5A rankings behind top-ranked West Des Moines Valley, Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Fort Dodge.

Defending Class 2A runner-up Regina opens the season ranked fourth in the 2A rankings.

Durant is No. 1 in 2A followed by North Linn and Wilton.

In Class 3A Solon comes in at No. 5 trailing top-ranked Davenport Assumption, Humboldt, Albia and Waterloo Columbus.
