City High has found its new girls soccer coach and once again the Little Hawks didn’t have to look far.

Assistant coach and City High graduate Corbin Scholz was announced as the Little Hawks head coach on Friday by athletic director Phillip Hansen, pending board approval.

A 2013 City High graduate, Scholz replaces Hansen who led the girls program to a 9-6 record in his only season as head coach before accepting the athletic director position earlier this year.

Hansen took over as head coach after spending time as an assistant with the City High boys program.

When it came time to find his replacement Hansen again looked within the City High program.

“Corbin has been a vital member of the girls soccer program as a player during her high school career and as a coach since 2015,” Hansen said in a release. “Corbin is a natural leader with great energy who will lead the Little Hawks to many years of success.”

Scholz was a member of the Little Hawks last City High state tournament team in 2013 and continued her soccer career at the University of Wisconsin at Lacrosse and at the University of Iowa club team.

City High returns three of its top four scorers from last seasons’ 9-6 team in rising sophomores Mia DePrenger, Morgan Turner and Sara Cassady.
