A pair of former West High standouts are among seven selections that will be inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association Wrestling Hall of Fame next month.
Former West High state champions Nate and Nick Moore join three other former wrestlers and two coaches in the 2020 hall of fame class that will be honored on February 22 before the championship matches as the state wrestling tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
The two brothers combined to win 358 matches and six state titles during their time at West High each reaching the state title match in all four seasons.
Nate Moore, the current head wrestling coach at West High, was the first four-time state finalist in program history reaching 3A title matches in consecutive seasons from 2005 to 2008.
A two-time champ, Nate Moore compiled a career 175-3 record and graduated seventh on the state’s all-time list of career pins
The lone four-time state champion in West High history Nick Moore won state titles in 2007 (130 pounds), 2008 (140), 2009 (152) and 2010 (160) while compiling a 183-1 career record.
