Solon didn’t have to wait long for another chance against a highly ranked opponent following a disappointing 3-0 loss to Class 2A fifth-ranked Marion on Wednesday.

When the Spartans got a shot at a form of redemption on Friday they made the most of it.

Class 1A fifth-ranked Solon got back on track with a 1-0 win over No. 2 Dyersville Beckman in Dyersville on Friday.

Solon improved to 7-2 on the season and 1-1 in WAMAC East Division play with the win while Beckman dropped to 1-2.

Luke McInnis scored the lone goal of the match when he headed in a Nick Radcliffe free kick in the 25th minute.

Solon made the early goal stand up as senior goal keeper Eric Weetman posted his fifth shutout.
