Top-ranked City High got a win over a cross-town rival last Friday and West High and Regina picked up conference wins on Monday.

However, it was Mother Nature that really flexed her muscle over the last week.

A winter storm wiped out nearly all area action last Friday and another round of snow forced another round of widespread postponements again on Tuesday.

The schedule changes have set up a busy end of the season for several area teams.

Clear Creek Amana is one of several area teams to have two games postponed over the last week and will scramble to make up both in a busy final two weeks.

Thanks to the weather-related tweaks to the schedule the Clippers will play eight games in a span of two weeks to end the season starting with a makeup game against South Tama on Thursday.

Clear Creek Amana has another postponed game set for February 4 at home against Independence and hosts West Delaware in a makeup from December in the regular season finale on February 7.

There are several other rescheduled games in the area to add to the calendar.

Regina will host Mid-Prairie in a River Valley Conference South Division contest on Saturday while West Branch hosts Monticello in a key RVC matchup January 31.

Solon’s rematch with WAMAC rival Mount Vernon was moved to January 28. It’s not a changed caused by weather by the Spartans’ home game against Maquoketa on February has been moved to the Solon Middle School at 6 p.m. due to a regional wrestling dual.

A couple of big matchups between ranked 5A opponents have new dates.

Top-ranked City High will host sixth-ranked Cedar Falls on February 11 and fifth-ranked West Des Moines Valley travels to No. 12 West High on February 9.

Unbeatens: The list of undefeated teams across the state continue to shrink with the number of unbeatens down to 11.

Class 5A top-ranked City High remains on the list.

The Little Hawks are 13-0 and join Pleasant Valley (15-0) as the lone remaining unbeaten teams in 5A.

There is at least one unbeaten team remaining in all five classes with seven of the 11 undefeated teams in 1A and 2A.

Osage is the lone remaining unbeaten in 3A and Marion is the only undefeated team left in Class 4A.
