Girls Tennis Roundup: West High Edges Cedar Rapids Xavier

West High kept its unbeaten record intact on Wednesday with a 6-3 win over Cedar Rapids Xavier in a Mississippi Valley Conference match in Cedar Rapids.

Caroline Chandler won a key match via tie-breaker at number three singles to put West High up 4-2 after singles play as the Women of Troy improved to 12-0 on the season.

Cedar Rapids Xavier dropped to 10-3 on the season with the loss.

Four of the nine total matches needed a tie-breaker to be determined with Jessica Moonjely defeating Miyako Coffey 7-6 (5), 6-1 at number one singles and Chandler downing Maddie Abu Nameh 6-7 (8), 6-2, 1-0 (8) in her match.

Audrey Koch and Caroline Mascardo also won singles matches for West High.

Moonjely and Koch edged Coffey and Emily Jasper 1-6, 6-1 1-0 (8) at number one singles.

West High will host Cedar Rapids Prairie on Thursday and plays Waterloo West and unbeaten Cedar Falls next week to close out MVC play.
