Boys Basketball Roundup: Liberty High Falls to No. 7 Dubuque Senior in Overtime in Regular Season Finale

Liberty High erased an early 10-point deficit but fell to Class 4A seventh-ranked Dubuque Senior 76-71 in overtime on Thursday in the regular season finale for both teams in Dubuque.

The win was the fourth straight for Dubuque Senior which finished the regular season 18-3 while Liberty High dropped to 9-12 with its fourth straight loss.

Andre Brandon led Liberty High with a game-high 22 points and Kelby Telander had 13 for the Lightning.

Savion Taylor had nine points and Basil Aldoss, Ethan O’Donnell and Ben Houselog each had eight for the Lightning.

Kendrick Watkins-Hogue led four Dubuque Senior players in double figures with 17 points.

Cain McWilliams had 14 points, Tyler Schuster 13 and Daquon Lewis 11 for the Rams.

Dubuque Hempstead Pulls Away From City High

Dubuque Hempstead used a big second quarter to pull away from City High for a 78-63 win in the regular season finale for both teams on Thursday in Iowa City.

City High closed the regular season 8-12 while Dubuque Hempstead improved to 14-7 with the win.

Keshawn Christian led City High with 17 points and eight rebounds while Raph Hamilton had 11 points and five boards.

Byron Benton had 12 points, three assists and two steals and Jamari Newson had seven points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
